The Bruker® MALDI Biotyper® provides rapid, cost-effective, accurate identification of thousands of microorganisms (including yeasts and filamentous fungi) using state-of-the-art technology. It can be used for environmental, product and/or research and development applications. Classification and identification are based on proteomic fingerprinting using high throughput mass-spectrometry. Turnaround time can be as little as one day.
The MALDI Biotyper® identifies microorganisms using MALDI-TOF (Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization/Time of Flight) Mass Spectrometry to determine the unique proteomic fingerprint of an organism. The characteristic spectrum pattern of this proteomic fingerprint is used to accurately identify a particular microorganism by matching thousands of reference spectra from microorganism strains.
